Several units within the Uniform Branch of the CCU serve specific functions within the organization’s overall policing response, and require specialized training and skills for the officers who work in them. The Air Operations Unit, Firearms Response Unit and K-9 Unit all enable the CCU to offer a diverse policing response with specialized capacities to the varied situations that can present themselves in the policing context. All Units report to the Superintendent of Specialist Operations, who oversees risk management and resource allocation of these Units’ availability and capacities to both planned police operations and critical police incidents that occur across the jurisdiction.
